The purpose of the project is to encourage stakeholder initiatives addressing the business and human rights issues identified in the Country Guide.

This project, jointly carried out by the Belgrade Center for Human Rights and the Danish Institute for Human Rights, drew upon the earlier collaboration between the two institutions for the elaboration of a Human Rights and Business Country Guide on Serbia and focuses on two major outputs: An updated Human Rights and Business Country Guide and a National Baseline Assessment on Business and Human Rights using the National Action Plan Toolkit jointly developed by the DIHR and the International Corporate Accountability Roundtable.

The purpose of the project was to encourage stakeholder initiatives addressing the business and human rights issues identified in the Country Guide. A major focus was on producing a National Baseline Assessment (NBA), which could serve as a foundation for convincing the government of Serbia to do a National Action Plan on Human Rights and Business.

The development of the Baseline Assessment was a consultative process led by BCHR, which played an important role in promoting implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in the Serbian context. The NBA draft was launched during a National Symposium in 2016.
