The Institute launches the National Baseline Tool, a new tool enabling users to create a ‘snapshot’ report on a country’s implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs).

The Danish Institute for Human Rights (the Institute) has launched the National Baseline Tool on Business and Human Rights, an online tool that allows users to create a report on how a country has implemented the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. This report can be used to identify and prioritise further research and data collection needs, develop recommendations, support reporting to regional and international human rights bodies, and track progress over time.

The National Baseline Tool is based on the Institute's Toolkit on National Action Plans on Business and Human Rights, first published in 2014 and updated in 2017. It includes a questionnaire with predetermined answer options and supportive guidance, as well as additional resources to guide researchers interested in delving deeper into specific business and human rights topics.

Once completed, the tool generates a downloadable report for the user, which can also be uploaded to a public-facing database. This report can be used to support the formulation and prioritisation of actions in a national action plan on business and human rights, and to track progress over time.

The National Baseline Tool is available to use for free at bhrbaseline.humanrights.dk/. Simply create a user profile to get started and complete the tool at your own pace.

The tool is available in English, French, and Spanish.
