Colombia

The Danish Institute for Human Rights is cooperating with a range of stakeholders in Colombia on business and human rights and sustainable development.

Since 2020, the Danish Institute for Human Rights has worked in Colombia to support local actors engage with business and human rights and sustainable development related issues.

In 2020 we signed a memorandum of understanding with the national human rights institution of Colombia – Defensoria del Pueblo de Colombia. We provide support and explore opportunities to jointly engage on issues related to human rights and business and the human rights approach to sustainable development. We also support the Defensoria del Pueblo to strengthen its capacities to provide access to remedy in business and human rights complaints.

We further promote the national action plan on business and human rights process and an energy transition with respect of human rights.

The Danish institute for Human Rights will maintain a strong focus on the environment and on gender in its work in Colombia.
