Research project

Academia and human rights

This project looks at the role played by Academia and researchers in the national human rights system.

This project envisages academic institutions and researchers as both right holders (academic freedom) and duty bearers.

The project looks into the main types of activities performed by academia: human rights education, human rights research coupled with the dissemination of knowledge and outreach to other actors of the NHRS.

This project builds on an overview of the literature existing on or related to the role of academia in the protection and promotion of human rights, as well as on practical experiences from academic partnership in developing countries (institutions, programmes, development aid projects, etc.).
