European human rights institutions express solidarity and support in letter to Ukrainian Ombudsman, our sister institution in Ukraine

In a letter to the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman), the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) expresses its support.

The Danish Institute for Human Rights likewise wishes to express solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the Ombudsman, our sister institution in Ukraine,  in this concerning and critical time.

The Ombudsman in Ukraine is an important voice and advocate for human rights in the country. The Danish Institute for Human rights has throughout the years had dialogue with the Ombudsman and collaborated with Ukrainian civil society organisations on human rights issues.

The European Network of National Human Rights Institutions, ENNHRI, is attempting to be in continuous contact with the head of our sister institution in Ukraine, Lyudmyla Denisova, however, this is a challenge due to the current situation in the country.

The Kyiv Declaration

At a conference in Ukraine in 2015, a declaration was adopted, detailing the role of national human rights institutions during and post conflicts.
