Labour rights in global garment value chains

This research project explores the drivers of, and barriers to, decent work in the global garment value chain.

Based on class-relational theoretical framework, applied to a comparative case study of the garment industries of Cambodia and Vietnam, the project explores the role evolving class relations, including workers’ collective action and their shifting bargaining power vis-à-vis employers and governments, in processes of “social upgrading”, progress towards decent work.
