Advancing the right to social security in Africa

The report serves the dual purpose of providing an overview of the state of implementation of the right to social security in Africa based on available data, and guidance to national human rights institutions on how to use their mandate to advance the right to social security.

The report responds to a call for enhancing the capacity of African national human rights institutions (NHRIs) to undertake research, data collection and analysis, including on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and strengthening the role of NHRIs in social protection initiatives for individuals in vulnerable situations.
