The Danish Institute for Human Rights hires new research director

Pernille Boye Koch joins the Institute as new research director. She has extensive academic experience in the field of human rights.

Pernille Boye Koch will take up the position of research director at the Danish institute for Human Rights on 1st September 2020. She comes from a position as associate professor in public law at the Department of Social Sciences and Business at Roskilde University.

The new research director is a graduate of law from the University of Copenhagen and in 2002 she go a Ph.D. at the same university. Since then she has done research in, among other things, the European Court of Human Rights, human rights in Danish legislation, good governance, the Danish Public Information Act and democratic control of intelligence services.

“Pernille Boye Koch has a strong academic profile and I look forward to working with her. I am confident that Pernille, together with our researchers, will be able to further develop this essential part of our work and ensure that we continually produce new, relevant knowledge that can contribute to strengthening human rights," says Louise Holck, acting executive director of the Danish Institute for Human Rights.

Pernille Boye Koch is looking forward to getting started.

“At the Danish Institute for Human Rights there is an expectation that our research will make a noticeable difference outside of the Institute. The purpose of the entire Institute is to protect and promote human rights. This also applies to research, so we must constantly create relevant knowledge and ensure that it translates into change in the real world. I look forward to contributing to that,” says Pernille Boye Koch.

Pernille Boye Koch takes over as research director from Hans-Otto Sano, who continues his long-standing position as a researcher at the Danish Institute for Human Rights.
