Launch of pledge: Building a better future for all, with human rights at its heart

A growing number of UN Member States are signing a Sustainable Recovery Pledge to build back better from the pandemic, using the 2030 Agenda, grounded in States’ human rights obligations, as well as the Paris Agreement, as the blueprint.

The Sustainable Recovery Pledge was launched on Wednesday June 30th in an online event in conjunction with the 47th session of the Human Rights Council. At the launch, government representatives pledged their commitments while senior UN officials, civil society, prominent business representatives, and human rights experts reflected on essential aspects of sustainable recovery that are linked to human rights and the SDGs in this decade of action.
