High-level Political Forum event: Ensuring a sustainable recovery that delivers on human rights and the 2030 Agenda

13 July 2021
Join us for this High-level Political Forum side event on pandemic recovery that builds on human rights and the 2030 Agenda.

While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have devastating effects on societies and economies around the world, it also provides an opportunity to rethink the path ahead and commit to a Sustainable Recovery that is transformational, holistic, just and inclusive, based on a New Social Contract and New Global Deal, and addresses long overdue obligations under the human rights framework as well as the 2030 Agenda commitments.

With the Sustainable Recovery pledge, a significant number of UN Member States have expressed their determination to build back better, using the 2030 Agenda, grounded in States’ human rights obligations, as well as the Paris Agreement, as the blueprint.

This event

At this High-level Political Forum (HLPF) side event, we will explore the Sustainable Recovery pledge from an operational perspective. Panelists will discuss what sustainable recovery looks like in practice, the importance of civil society space and participation as well as the risks and opportunities associated with the significant investments in pandemic response and recovery.

The event will have live interpretation from English to Spanish and French via the app Interprefy (can be downloaded on a smart phone).
