Education and awareness-raising have been key elements in the work of the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) since it was established almost 25 years ago.
Our mandate as a National Human Rights Institution demands that we ensure human rights education and information to the general public in Denmark, to civil servants and public institutions, to politicians and government, and to civil society organisations that work to promote human rights.
In our international programmes, education is a key component of promoting human rights and advising governments on how to comply with human rights. Education is an integrated element of our efforts when we assist in the development of new strategies in the justice sector, for example, or assist in building new institutions for human rights promotion.
