NHRIs and Public Participation

Issue Paper

The purpose of this issue paper on National Human Rights Institutions and Public Participation is to give a description of how National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) can work to promote public participation in their work.

Public participation is not only a right in itself as recognised by international and regional conventions and charters, it is also a lever for the realisation of all other rights. The issue paper intends to provide concrete guidance on how a NHRI working in accordance with the Paris Principles can enable and support public participation.

We strive to make the pdf versions of our publications etc. accessible for screen readers. If you experience any problems, please contact Digital Editor Stine Juhl Nielsen on stni@humanrights.dk
