Gold Indicators

Measuring the progress of the implementation of the UN convention on the rights of persons with disabilities.

The Gold Indicators are a set of 10 statistical outcome indicators which compare the situation of persons with and without disabilities in relation to 10 key thematic areas of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

The Gold Indicators have been developed by the Danish Institute for Human Rights through an inclusive process with relevant national stakeholders, including national ministries, State authorities and a broad range of disability organisations.

The main purpose of the Gold Indicators is to generate change and stimulate action. Statistical indicators have the potential of becoming goals for policy-making.

It is our hope that the Gold Indicators will become a powerful tool for monitoring and promoting the implementation of the CRPD and inspire other national human rights institutions, governments, disability organisations as well as international organisations.

The SDG priority indicators in relation to the Gold Indicators

In the report we also identify the most relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) priority Indicators which correspond best with the Gold Indicators. The overall impression is that the SDGs could be adapted relatively easily to incorporate the Gold Indicators.
