Academic cooperation

In relation to this form of cooperation, our vision is to assist universities and research institutions in target countries so that they can function as key academic resource bases for the promotion of human rights. This will enable state institutions and civil society actors to operate effectively by providing an increased number of graduate and post-graduate candidates with human rights knowledge and expertise.

Ongoing activites include various forms of support to and cooperation with:
  • Masters in Human Rights, Faculty of Arts, and Peace Centre, Makerere University, Uganda (curriculum and skills development and capacity building)
  • Masters Human Rights Programme, Hong Kong University, China (scholarship programme)
  • UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Democratisation, Benin (networking, documentation)
  • China Academy of Social Sciences, (research, rights of suspects and detainees/research on death penalty)
  • Joint Nordic co-operation with Chinese Universities (academic meetings, seminars)
